Amazon driver caught on camera throwing packages out truck window

An Amazon delivery driver is currently off the job after she was caught on camera throwing packages out the window of the truck she was driving.

The incident happened in the Oakhurst neighborhood of Cornelius.

A video shows the driver tossing three packages out of the truck. The truck did not say Amazon on it because it was a rental, but Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke confirmed it was an Amazon driver behind the wheel.

Katie Armitage took photos of the packages laying on the grass and in the street. She says none of the packages belonged to the address where they were found. One package containing a screen protector was hers. She says the screen protector was broken.

“I feel that it’s just disrespectful,” Armitage said.

“I thought maybe it was just a mistake and mistakes happen,” she said. “The wrong address, or something, but when I saw the video, it kind of ensured that she was not doing her job today,” she said.

Armitage says she complained to Amazon and the company replaced the screen protector quickly and offered her a $10 credit on her next purchase.

“I just want to make sure my packages are here on time and it’s what I expected and in (good) shape,” she said.

At least one other surprised customer spoke out on the neighborhood’s Facebook page, writing they found their $500 laptop on the curb.

Amazon emailed Stoogenke: “This doesn’t reflect the high standards we have for our delivery partners. The driver is no longer delivering packages for Amazon and won’t be eligible to do so in the future.”

Stoogenke says if you have a problem with a delivery, no matter what carrier is delivering your order, to contact the seller/vendor first, not the delivery company. Your relationship is with the seller. That’s easy in the case of Amazon because, chances are, you bought the item on Amazon and it is the company delivering it.
