SCHAUMBURG, IL — A new Amazon Fresh store, slated to open Thursday in Schaumburg, will be the second to open to the public in Illinois, according to the company. The first, located in Naperville, opened last month.

The Schaumburg store is opening at the former Babies R Us location at 16 E. Golf Road. It will occupy 45,000 square feet, according to a release from the company. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with special service between 7 and 8 a.m. for customers who are 60 years and older, those with disabilities and those whom the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines as high-risk.

"We’re proud to support the community by creating hundreds of high-quality local jobs and by donating surplus food from the Amazon Fresh store to local food banks," the Seattle-based company said in the release. "To date we have already donated over 40,000 pounds of food (equivalent to over 35,000 meals) from the Schaumburg store."
