Amazon Prime Day scams: Here’s what to look out for

Amazon Prime Day deals started early Tuesday, and unfortunately so have the scams and phishing attacks.

We know many people will be online shopping Tuesday, so here’s what you need to look out for.

Cyber security experts said to protect yourself, don’t trust any emails or texts that appear to be from Amazon, especially if they contain links.

Instead, go directly to the Amazon website and check your account messages. If Amazon is presenting a deal, it will be available on its website and its app. Experts said it’s best to avoid links entirely.

Last year on Amazon Prime Day, there were about 3,700 malicious websites and URLs, and this year experts expect around the same.

Amazon Prime Day runs for 48 hours. Discounts will be offered on many items including electronics, home goods and toys.
