RACHELLE AKUFFO: Amazon Prime Day starts tomorrow, but that's not the only place you can find some deals this week. Other retailers have also launched some competitive campaigns this year. Our Dan Howley is here with more. So, Dan, where else can we find these bargains, apart from Amazon?

DAN HOWLEY: It's really kind of all over the place at this point. There's a few that I want to point to in particular, but just to give you a sense of how big Prime Day has become, competitors across the spectrum have really started to kind of amp up their deals around this time of year, specifically to just combat Amazon's Prime Day.

So, two that I really want to point to are Best Buy and Target. Let's start with Target first. They're running what they're calling their Target Deal Days. And they're promising things like $70 off of select Apple products. That's not a bad deal, as well as 50% off select toys and 50% off other tech products, including headphones. And they're also saying can get 30% off on home items.

Now, those are some pretty decent savings, especially when you consider that, I mean, that's pretty much what people mostly shop for. You're going to look at that, and you're going to look at Amazon. And, you know, I think the big deal with Target here is that you'll be able to just make these purchases online and then stop at the store.

Now, if you actually want to shop in the store, Best Buy has you covered because they're offering deals as well. $300 off select laptops, $200 off sleect Apple MacBooks. If you can get a good MacBook for $200 off, that's not bad. And they're also saying that they'll have $350 off of gaming laptops. And then here's the one that I'm looking at mostly. It's 48-inch Sony OLED TV for $799. You can't really beat that with a stick, although I'd like it to be a little bit larger than 48 inches. I'm also just greedy.

And then they have AirPods Pro for $179. And it's not just Target and Best Buy. Obviously, you have Walmart. They've been having their deal days going for quite a while. And so they're going to re-up with some new deals throughout Prime Day. And you can always kind of try and see what lines up with what, if there are similar deals being offered from different retailers. So it's always worth checking out. The other big thing, you don't have to be a member of any of these stores' programs to get the deals.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: And that's really key because, obviously, Amazon Prime membership certainly not cheap. Now I know your cat is looking on there, probably wondering, you know, where are the good deals for pets and other things? Is it better to save your money now or save it for Black Friday, or is this really the best time to get the best deals?

DAN HOWLEY: You know, it's interesting because around Black Friday, you're probably going to get the best deals. It's really Black Friday, Cyber Monday, around that time. This is kind of-- it feels like-- usually, like, an inventory clearout, right, where companies kind of want to just ditch their excess inventory over the summer and prepare for the fall.

Really around the holidays is where you tend to get big deals on big name products, you know, whether that's game consoles, things along those lines, bundles for game consoles, jewelry. Not necessarily the best time to buy jewelry around the holidays, but clothing for sure. And then, obviously, there's always those big TV deals that everybody talks about.

So I really do still think it's Black Friday and Cyber Monday that are the times that you want to tend to shop for major deals. But look, if you're sitting around during the summer and you want to make a purchase on something without having to totally drain your bank account, you really can't go wrong with any of these.
