Amazon's cloud service outage hobbles several sites

Amazon's widely used cloud service, Amazon Web Services (AWS), has been experiencing a widespread outage, affecting swathes of the internet from news sites like the Washington Post to services like Flickr.

Amazon said Wednesday (November 25) the outage has also affected their ability to post updates to its service dashboard.

Video-streaming device maker Roku, Adobe's Spark platform, and the Baltimore Sun newspaper were also among those hit by the outage, according to recent tweets.

Amazon's cloud service business is thriving on higher demand from companies switching to virtual offices due to the global health crisis.

Sales from AWS, which provides data storage and computing power in the cloud, rose about 29% just in the months from July to September.
