Amber Alert issued for Bryson Duong, 7-year-old Iowa boy believed abducted by father

Police are searching for a 7-year-old boy who they say was taken by his father from Jefferson in north central Iowa on Tuesday.

An Amber Alert was issued for Bryson Lewis Duong just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Duong, who is of Asian descent, has black hair and brown eyes. He is 3'8" and weighs approximately 60 pounds, according to the alert.

Duong was last seen wearing black snow pants with brown side patches and a black coat, according to the alert.

Police believe Bryson was taken by his father, Brandon Duong, 34, said Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse. Brandon picked up Bryson at the Greene County Elementary School at about 12:40 p.m., Clouse said.

The Greene County Community School District posted a statement on its Facebook page that said a student was taken Tuesday without the school's permission.

"Today from 12:45pm to 1:20pm, our elementary and middle school were placed in a Secure the Perimeter after a student left the elementary playground and entered their parent’s vehicle and left school grounds," the statement said. "The proper procedure for removal of a student off the school grounds was not followed and law enforcement was immediately notified."

All other students were safely brought inside from recess and continued with their classes, the statement said.

Brandon Duong is 5'10", weighs approximately 135 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black coat and black pants.

Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a black 2015 Toyota Tacoma with the license plate number DFV202, according to the alert.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety is asking the public to not approach if they see Bryson or the black Toyota Tacoma.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Bryson or Brandon should call the Jefferson Police Department at 515-386-2136, the department said in a statement.
