Amber Alert issued for missing Florida girl: What we know

An 11-year-old Escambia County, Florida girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert Thursday was located, Escambia County Sheriff's Office announced before 4 p.m.

The Amber Alert was issued at 9:35 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect, Brijido Manriquez-Ortis, was detained in Laredo, Texas.

"I can only tell you right now that she is safe, and he is detained," Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said around 4 p.m. "We are still conducting investigations trying to figure out who knows what and who did what."

The Amber Alert was issued for Banesa Fernandez-Santis.

She was found inside a car in Foley, Alabama.

She is 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. She is described as having scars on her face.

Where was she last seen?

She was last seen in the area of the 5600th block of Arthur Brown Road in Walnut Hill.

Where is Escambia County in Florida?

Escambia County is in Florida's northwestern corner.

Who was she last seen with?

The suspect was not physically present during the girl's disappearance, according to an investigation.

Who is Brijido Manriquez-Ortis?

Manriquez-Ortis is 42 with an unknown date of birth. He is an undocumented worker.

According to Simmons, an opening had been cut in the screen of the girl's window and a note from Banesa was left behind in the room.

"That note indicated that she would be in the company of Brijido Manriquez-Ortis," Simmons said.

What is the connection between Banesa Fernandez-Santis and Brijido Manriquez-Ortis?

Manriquez-Ortis, Banesa and the girl's father worked together on a farm in northern Escambia County when the girl's father noticed a "building relationship" between the man and his daughter, according to Simmons.

The father caught his daughter and the man "in a kissing situation" after which the father fired Manriquez-Ortis from the job site and personally drove him to Atlanta, Simmons said.
