Amber Alert: Two children found safe after abduction from south Dallas County, police say

Two children who were reportedly abducted from Wilmer on Monday morning have been found safe, Wilmer police said in an update Monday afternoon.

The 9-year-old and 5-year-old were found in the city of Yoakum, less than an hour after a statewide Texas Amber Alert was issued.

The children had last been seen in the 5900 block of South Interstate 45 in Wilmer, according to the alert. Wilmer is a small town in south Dallas County about 50 miles from Fort Worth. They were found more than 250 miles away in Yoakum, which is in Lavaca and DeWitt counties between San Antonio and Houston.

Authorities said they suspected the children’s mother, Jaquelyn Hernandez, abducted them in a gray 2013 Dodge Challenger. Police have not said whether Hernandez is in custody.

Police said the Hernandez’s boyfriend, Nicholas R. Falcon, was believed to be driving the Challenger.
