Amber Heard makes 'Edward Scissorhands' jibe as she discusses Johnny Depp trial

Amber Heard has seemed to take a swipe at her ex-husband Johnny Depp's film Edwards Scissorhands.

The pair have recently been involved in a defamation case that gripped fans worldwide, after Depp sued his former wife over an op-ed in which she said she was a "public figure representing domestic abuse”.

Discussing the verdict – which went Depp's way – with NBC’s Today, Heard appeared to comment on his 1990 film, which saw the star play an artificial humanoid with scissor blades instead of hands.

Referring to fact that she was accused of acting in the courtroom, Heard said: "Says the lawyer for the man who convinced the world he had scissors for fingers?

"I’m the performer?"

“I had listened to weeks of testimony insinuating or saying directly that I’m a terrible actress," she said. "So I’m a bit confused how I could be both.”

Heard also said that she understands why the trial went the way it did.

"I actually understand," she said.

"He's a beloved character and people feel they know him. He's a fantastic actor."

Depp, 59, and Heard, 35, met in 2009 on the set of Hunter S Thompson adaptation The Rum Diary and  they went on to tie the knot in 2015.

However, Heard filed for divorce around a year after they wed and their divorce was finalised in 2017.

In 2020, Pirates Of The Caribbean star Depp lost a libel case against The Sun over an article that called him a "wife beater".

He sued Heard over a 2018 piece she wrote in The Washington Post and Heard — who did not mention her ex or anyone else by name – counter-sued.
