AMBRIDGE − Amazon Prime has released the trailer for "A League of Their Own."
And, yes, there's plenty of Ambridge footage.
The comedy-drama, based on the hit 1992 Tom Hanks-Geena Davis movie, centers around a 1943 all-women's baseball league formed to keep the National Pastime going while men were off fighting in the war.
Debuting Aug. 12, The TV series' YouTube trailer provides visuals of Merchant Street in Ambridge decked out like the 1940s, with cars and clothes of that era. The red-brick Tobin Studios, at 1234 Merchant, is recast with a sign identifying it as a business named Chapman's.
Several baseball scenes in the trailer feature the makeshift ballfield, with dugouts and scoreboard, built last year in Ambridge in a vacant lot off New Economy Drive, northeast of the 1500 block of Merchant where a mill stands in the background.
The trailer also shows a glimpse of Aliquippa's Morrell Field, also designated Mike Ditka Field, where additional "League of Their Own" filming took place last year.
