AMC starts filming a series in New Bedford. Here's everything you need to know this week.

NEW BEDFORD — Hollywood is back!

Filming begins for AMC's "Invitation to a Bonfire" around the Whaling City as the area is transformed into the mid-1920s.

According to IMDb.com, all six episodes of the upcoming drama series will be shot in the New Bedford area as well as surrounding towns.

Starting on Thursday, Oct. 13, filming began on 8th Street near the Herman Melville House as well as in the downtown around Custom House Square and The Drawing Room area adjacent to the Whaling Museum.

"Invitation to a Bonfire" is based on the book of the same name by Adrienne Celt.

Set at an all-girls boarding school in New Jersey in the 1920s, the story follows a young Soviet refugee Zoya, who is an outcast at the school.

Several streets will have no parking

Through Oct. 21, there will no parking on 8th Street between Mechanics Lane and Union Street from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

No parking on Madison Street between County Street and Orchard Street, William Street between Acushnet Avenue and Johnny Cake Hill (Additional no parking added only on October 18 from Purchase Street to Acushnet Avenue).

No parking on Acushnet Avenue between Elm Street and Barkers Lane

On Friday Oct. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m., no parking on Purchase Street between Market Lane and William Street (west side), or on Purchase Street between William Street and Mechanics Lane (both sides).

On Monday, Oct 17, and Wednesday, Oct 19, there will be no parking on Union Street between County Street and 7th Street (NORTH SIDE ONLY) as well as on Williams Street between County Street and 8th Street (BOTH SIDES).

'She-Hulk' stars in the series

The series stars Tatiana Maslany, known for her title role in the new Disney+/Marvel series "She-Hulk" as well as "Orphan Black."

Maslany will star opposite "Game of Thrones" badie Pilou Asbæk and Freya Mavor who also appears on the HBOMax series "Industry" and starred opposite John Malkovich in the mini-series "The ABC Murders" on BBC.

Some roles are still being cast by New York's Billy Dowd Casting and Boston's CP Casting as filming will take place through December.

The story is loosely based on the marriage of Vladimir and Véra Nabokov.

After graduating, Zoyla stays on staff and when Russian writer Leo Orlov arrives, everything changes. Per the description on the IMDb database, "With the arrival of visiting writer and fellow Russian émigré Leo Orlov — whose books Zoya has privately obsessed over for years — her luck seems poised to change, but the relationship that forms between them will put Zoya, Leo, and his calculating wife, Vera, all at risk."

The first season is set to be premiere on AMC in Summer 2023.
