Troopers responded to an address on South Amenia Road around 11:50 a.m. Sunday to the report of a stabbing and found the men outside the residence. Trotta was arrested at the scene without further incident, state police said. Cedillo was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency medical services.

The residence includes four rental apartments, two two-bedroom and two one-bedroom units, according to Dutchess County records. Police could not comment on if either or both men lived in the building.

South Amenia Road is a mostly rural stretch in Amenia off Routes 22/343, which crosses the Webatuck Creek and connects to Amenia Union Road.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact state police at 845-677-7300 and refer to case No. 10648275.
