American Airlines adds 4 new western resort destinations out of Charlotte airport

American Airlines is adding four new routes for Charlotte travelers seeking outdoor mountain adventures in the west, starting this summer, the company announced Wednesday.

Seasonal direct flights from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Bozeman, Montana; Calgary, Canada; and Spokane, Washington, will begin in June and will continue through early September, according to the airline.

It will be the first time American offers nonstop service to Calgary International Airport and Spokane International Airport, the airline said. Some of the attractions in these areas include Banff National Park, Spokane waterfalls and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, a summer destination.

Some of the attractions in Jackson Hole and Bozeman include Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Daily service from CLT to Spokane and Jackson Hole will begin June 5 and continue through Sept. 3. Flights to Calgary and Bozeman are being offered on Saturdays, starting June 8 through Sept. 3.

Other new routes out of Charlotte

Before the summer, American Airlines is also starting service new service to Tulum, Mexico, on March 28 and resuming flight to Dublin, Ireland.

New routes from CLT to Vancouver are coming in June, which will be the only nonstop service between North Carolina and British Columbia.

Charlotte has one of the world’s busiest airports, and is the second largest hub for American Airlines in the U.S. accounting for about 90% of all flights out of the airport.

CLT ranked as the seventh-busiest airport worldwide for arrivals and departures, according to the Airport Council International’s preliminary rankings for 2022.
