American Airlines Cancels 806 Charlotte-Based Flights

CHARLOTTE, NC — More than 800 flights that would have taken off in March are now scratched off American's list, according to the carrier.

The Charlotte Business Journal investigated flight data and discovered thousands of flights for March were canceled across the airline's hubs, Charlotte the second largest among them.

Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia received larger cuts to planned American flights than Charlotte.

American Airlines spokesperson Brian Methem told the Business Journal that even with the canceled flights, service is still top priority.

"Even with these schedule adjustments, American continues to offer the most departures in the month of March among the major U.S. carriers," he said.

Air travel has been tenuous so far in 2022, with the boom in omicron cases of coronavirus affecting staffing, as well as numerous weather delays.
