American Airlines is starting new flights from DFW to Australia, plus Rio and Veracruz
American Airlines is adding new seasonal service from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Australia, Mexico, Brazil and Hawaii.
The Fort Worth-based carrier said its first direct flights to Brisbane will begin in October, when the weather here is getting chilly but it’s approaching summer in the land Down Under. It will be the airline’s longest nonstop flight in its network. Boeing 787-9 aircraft will serve the route.
Flights to Veracruz, Mexico, launch in June. American Airlines will add new service to Rio de Janeiro and resume flights to Kona, Hawaii, starting Oct. 27.
This summer, American also is adding more flights from DFW to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Starting June 8, there will be two flights on Saturdays each to Grand Cayman, St. Thomas and Providenciales in Turks and Caicos. On June 12, American will begin service to Veracruz.
Dallas-Fort Worth, which is the world’s second busiest airport, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is spending billions on overhauling terminals, roads and bridges, and building a long-awaited Terminal F.
