American Airlines to stop flights to 30 small cities unless last minute coronavirus relief deal passes

They’ll be flying away.

American Airlines will stop operating flights to 30 small cities across the country on Sept. 30, CNBC reported. That’s the same date the government will stop giving airlines money as part of the CARES Act.

The massive coronavirus relief bill required airlines to keep all pre-pandemic destinations on their schedules in order to receive funding. But when that funding expires at the end of September, so does that rule.

United Airlines plans to maintain service to the small cities, according to CNBC, but plans have been known to change quickly during the coronavirus pandemic.
