American Kennel Club announces western Washington dog shows at Puyallup fairgrounds

Dog lovers, be prepared: the Western Washington 2022 Summer Cluster of Dog Shows approaches.

According to a news release from the American Kennel Club, the three-day event will feature three different dog shows, featuring 164 breeds with about 1,500 dogs entered in each show.

The dog shows will take place from July 9-11, with a different show on each day. July 9 will display the Puyallup Valley Dog Franciers Kennel Club all-breed show, July 10 will be the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show, and to top it off, the Gig Harbor Kennel Show will be on July 11.

The shows will include various events, from Obedience Trials to Temperament Testing as well as three AKC All Breed Conformation Shows.

In addition, 17 separate AKC breed-specific clubs will hold specialty events associated with the cluster.

The shows will also feature a Pee Wee Handler Event during the noon break on July 9, meant for kids ranging from 5 to 9.

Puppies ranging from 4 to 6 months old will also compete in the AKC’s PUPPY Competition, held at noon on Saturday and Monday.

A separate Miscellaneous/FSS open show will be held each of the three days to showcase new and rare breeds.

According to the release, dog health clinics will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Register at PVDFHealthClinics@gmail.com.
