SHALIMAR — Evan Williams Bourbon recently honored a Shalimar resident as a 2022 American-Made Hero, making him part of a select group of veterans to be featured on the limited-edition Evan Williams American Hero bottles.

Mike Arena was selected for his 23 years in the Air Force, where he traveled around the world as an operational medic. Today, he is the executive director and co-founder of Healing Paws for Warriors, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.

HPW provides trained service dogs to combat veterans faced with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma at no cost.
