American Red Cross assisting residents after home lost in Gun Barrel City fire

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas (KETK) – A home was destroyed Wednesday morning after a fire in Gun Barrel City.

According to the Gun Barrel City Fire Department, they responded to the fire in the 100 block of Pine Bloom Drive around 8:42 a.m. where they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof and windows.

The residents were reportedly able to escape the home with their dogs and one person was taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation. Officials said the home and its contents were a complete loss.

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents, according to officials, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Gun Barrel City requested mutual aid in the fire response from Mabank, Tool, Seven Points Fire Departments and Payne Springs Fire Rescue with Gun Barrel City police assisting. No firefighters were injured in the response.
