American Rescue Plan and opioid response funds to be awarded to local police departments

Several local police departments were named as recipients of the newest wave of federal funding that was announced on Tuesday.

The grants, which come from the Local Law Enforcement Grant Program categories of the American Rescue Plan and the Federal State Opioid Response fund, will be used at local police departments for various equipment upgrades. A total of $1.14 million of federal funding was allocated to departments serving communities within Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.

"I am thrilled to bring home these federal funds for police, public safety, and addiction and recovery services for communities in Allegheny and Beaver County,” said Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio, Aspinwall, who represents the district. “I will keep fighting to ensure that every municipality across the 17th District has the resources and support they need to have safer communities.”

Local departments included in this round of funding are:

  • Brighton Township Police Department - $194,035 for police video evidence system updates

  • Leet Township Police Department - $54,752 for Police Records Management Systems upgrades and body-worn cameras

  • Moon Township Moon Police Department - $174,420 for Records Management Systems upgrades and technology equipment upgrades
