All-American: Walsh's Zach Kreft finishes fourth at NCAA Division II cross country meet

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WASHINGTON — A sensational season ended with an All-American finish for Walsh's Zach Kreft on Friday.

Kreft came in fourth to lead the Cavaliers at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. His time in the 10,000-meter race was 29:53.6.

A transfer from Notre Dame, Kreft was coming off wins at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships and NCAA Division II Midwest Regional. This week he was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest Region Athlete of the Year.

Kreft led Walsh to an 18th-place finish, tying an NCAA Division II program record. The Cavs also came in 18th last year.

Nathan Moore came in 40th in 30:31.0 and earned All-American honors for Walsh. The Cavs' other finishers were Drew Roberts in 148th place (31:51.8), Julian Shrock in 153rd (31:55.2), Mitchel Dunham in 155th (31:56.4), Noah Graham in 171st (32:08.5) and Evan Jarold in 248th (34:26.9).

An individual qualifier, Malone's Max Gucker finished 89th in 31:09.0. His time was a personal best.
