Americana Festival returns today for 50th anniversary celebration

Today, the Americana Festival in Centerville and Washington Township will be held on the streets of Centerville for the Fourth of July.

This year marks 50 years of the festival, and it’s one of the largest Independence Day parties in the Miami Valley.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott spoke with Dave Paprocki, the Publicity Chair with the Americana Festival, about what it’s like coming back in full force.

The festival kicked off last night, but the main events are today, and 75,000 people are expected to attend.

Paprocki said this will be a great economic boost for the area.

“There’s a certain kind of vibe in the air. So, I think that really results into, you know, more business for the Uptown Centerville area.” Paprocki continued, “and those businesses that are all, you know, here all year round, but also just the surrounding impacts where people are able to get together.”

Today those who attended will be able to enjoy a 5K run, arts and crafts, live entertainment, lots of food, a parade, and a firework display.
