Ball games are not the only place to get a good old-fashioned hot dog.
New Bern has several locations where you can grab one with your favorite toppings for a quick lunch or a day out with the kids. Here is a list of some places they can be found right here and a few fun facts about one of America's favorite foods.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, here are some interesting facts about hot dogs.
The longest hot dog measured was 668 ft. 7.62 in. and was made by Novex S.A. in Mariano Roque Alonso, Paraguay on July 15, 2011 and was cut into 2000 pieces for spectators.
The record for the most hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes by a male is 76 by Joey Chestnut in 2021. The most hot dogs eaten in 10 minutes by a female is 48.5 by Miki Sudo in 2020. Both records were won at Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest held annually on July 4 in Coney Island, New York.
The most expensive hot dog is $169 sold by Tokyo Dog in Seattle, Wash. on Feb. 23, 2014 and was called The Juuni Ban.

This hot-dog-only restaurant was opened by Bill Jackson in 1928 and currently still stands at the same location. The business has a food truck that can be found in different locations daily, which is updated daily to their Facebook page. Hotdogs, chips and drinks is all they have ever served and still use their original chili recipe.

Owner Steven Snook has created his own special chili and relish recipe to add to a total of 17 different toppings that are available from his food truck. Snook Dawgs can be found a various locations throughout New Bern which are posted to his Facebook page daily. Snook also offers nachos, brats and smoked sausage. The price is $2.50 for classic beef dogs, $4 for quarter pound all beef hot dogs and nachos are $5. Toppings are free!

The Cow Cafe is located in the heart of downtown New Bern providing easy access for those who want to pop in for a quick lunch. The hot dog menu consists of the Cow Coney, an all-beef hot dog with your choice of slaw, mustard, relish, ketchup and onions. It is served with chips or your choice of one side. The Cowlossal Cow Coney, a ¼ pound all-beef hot dog with your choice of slaw, mustard, relish, ketchup and onions also served with chips or your choice of one side. For little ones, they offer the Calf Coney, a beef hot dog, served with choice of ketchup, mustard, chips or applesauce and milk or a small soft drink. Extra toppings are also available.
The Bern Bar and Grill

The business is open from 11 a.m. to midnight on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to midnight on Sunday. You can get a hot dog with your favorite toppings or order from a variety of menu items while enjoying your favorite beer and shooting a game of pool. The restaurant also offers live music and various different games during the week.

This takeout restaurant is located in the Five Points area of New Bern and is owned by Kurtis Stewart and Robert Gaylor. Gaylor also serves as the head chef. It opened in April of 2021 and celebrated with a grand opening with more than 100 people in attendance. The takeout restaurant offers a menu that carries the names of several prominent black leaders in the community as well as items named after some of New Bern’s great historical neighborhoods, but if it is a hot dog you're searching for you can find it here also for only $1.75! Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Well-Done Dogs, a food truck, is owned and operated by Weldon Dickerson of New Bern. known for serving top notch all beef hotdogs with your choice of toppings.
