Ames boys swimmer Josh Fisher was named the Ames Tribune Athlete of the Week for Jan. 16-22 by Tribune readers.

Fisher dominated the voting. He received 51.60% of the vote (1,600) to finish well ahead of Ames wrestler Jabari Hinson and his swimming teammate Evan Feilmeyer, who received 15.96% and 10.22%, respectively with vote totals of 495 and 317.

Fisher claimed the 200 and 500 freestyle championships at the Iowa Alliance Conference boys swimming meet on Jan. 21 in Fort Dodge. Fisher's efforts helped Ames cruise to the conference team championship with 493 points.

Fisher won the 200 freestyle in 1:44.04 to beat Fort Dodge's Dylan Alt by 4.78 seconds for first. In the 500 freestyle, Fisher clocked in at 4:47.17 to beat out teammate Ian McCorkle's 4:49.70 for first.
