An Amish teenager was thrown from his horse-drawn buggy and killed when an SUV crashed into the vehicle in upstate New York, police said.

Rudy Hershberger, 17, was behind the reins heading south on Route 26 in the Madison County town of Georgetown around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday when a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox crashed into the back of his buggy, state police said.

Driver Taylor Manwarren, 19, later told cops she didn’t see the buggy until it was too late.

Hershberger, of Earlville, N.Y., was ejected from the buggy and landed on the side of the road. He was rushed to Hamilton Community Memorial Hospital, but could not be saved.

Manwarren, of Eaton, N.Y., tested negative for drugs and alcohol after the crash.

No charges were filed, but state police were still investigating Thursday.
