Afghan Ex-Journalist Mina Mangal Shot Dead in Kabul

Parliamentary adviser and former journalist Mina Mangal was shot dead in Kabul, Afghanistan, on May 11, according to TOLOnews citing officials.

Mangal, who was previously a presenter for three local networks, was also a cultural advisor to the Lower House of Parliament in Afghanistan, the report said.

Two men on a motorcycle fired two shots at Mangal near a market in Kabul’s eighth district, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Mangal recently posted on social media that she was receiving death threats, RFE/RL said.

A police spokesman told RFE/RL they would “investigate all aspects of this case.”
