Anyone who has followed baseball over the years has heard their fair share of absurd injuries. Sammy Sosa once threw his back out sneezing, Clint Barmes tripped while carrying deer meat and Jonathan Lucroy dropped a suitcase on his hand.

Just when you thought you had seen it all, the game finds a way to surprise you. Atlanta Braves infielder Erick Aybar was scratched from Thursday's lineup with what we're going to say is easily the weirdest injury we've seen this season.

Yes, you read that right, Aybar was scratched because he got a chicken bone stuck in his throat. You can feel free to insert your favorite joke about the Braves "choking" right here.

While that injury sounds horrifying, it seems like Aybar will be all right. Interim manager Brian Snitker said Aybar looked OK before he left to go to the hospital, but that he wasn't speaking all that well. Though it appears Aybar avoided a serious issue, he'll still have to be sedated when doctors remove the bone from his throat. That does not sound like a fun way to spend a Thursday.

If there's one positive to come out of this, at least we now know where Aybar stands in the boneless versus bone-in chicken wing debate.
