Slovakia promises to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 jet fighters

During an EU summit in Brussels on Feb.9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Heger to provide MiG-29 fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to help fight the Russian aggression.
Latest reports suggest about 11 or 12 aircraft, currently stationed in Slovakia, are in play.
“The Prime Minister of the Republic replied that Slovakia will do its best to comply with this request,” Tasr’s message reads..
Earlier, the Slovakian Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad said that the country no longer uses MiG-29s.

“As of Oct. 1, 2022, Slovakia no longer uses MiG-29s…; we are prepared to discuss handing these jets to Ukraine; we’re waiting for a corresponding decision from the Slovak government,” said And.
Nad said his country is willing to train Ukrainian pilots in operating F-16 jets, once Slovakia receives them from the United States.
Previously, Slovakia requested Poland and the Czech Republic to help patrol its airspace, while it waits for U.S.-made F-16s to be delivered.
