Amsterdam Streets Quiet as Netherlands Goes Into Lockdown

The streets of Amsterdam were quiet on December 15 following a government-enforced lockdown that closed non-essential businesses and schools through January 19.

The lockdown came amid soaring number of coronavirus cases in the Netherlands. The government also encouraged residents to limit visitors during the holiday season.
