Amtrak suspends service between Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, BC due to landslide

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Amtrak has announced it is temporarily suspending rail service between Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., due to a landslide from a previous weather event.

According to Amtrak’s website, the landslide caused host rail road BNSF to implement a 48-hour moratorium between Portland and Seattle. However, normal operations are expected to resume Sunday morning.

The company said customers with previous reservations on trains that are being affected would typically be accommodated with trains that have similar departure times or on another day. Amtrak also said it would waive additional charges for customers who wish to change their reservations by calling the reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
