Amtrak's Fall Sale Is Offering the Best Deals on Train Fare You’ll Get All Year

We can all agree: there’s just something about train travel. It’s the perfect travel option for all sorts of travelers, whether you’re concerned about your carbon footprint, hate navigating airport shuttles, or just prefer to be up close with the landscape rather than above it. And now Amtrak is making it more affordable to get around the country via train with fall fares up to 50 percent off.

For two days only, the train line is offering massive discounts on travel around the country. If you book this Tuesday or Wednesday (Oct. 22 and 23), you can take advantage of Amtrak’s flash sale on travel from Nov. 11 through 29 (excluding the pre-Thanksgiving blackout period of Nov. 26 and 27).

That means you might still be able to catch some amazing fall foliage views.

Tickets from New York City to Washington, D.C. are available for only $39. Or you could go all the way down to Atlanta for only $80. On the West Coast, travel from San Francisco to Los Angeles will only cost $33. Or you could choose to go up to Portland for $46. Travelers in the Midwest could take advantage of deals like Chicago to Memphis for only $55.

Tickets are nonrefundable and not valid for any changes. Fares are subject to availability. For more information on the sale, visit Amtrak’s website.

And hey, if you book these fares, you can take part in the European tradition of “train bragging,” or posting on social media about the environmental good you’ve achieved by choosing a train journey over a flight.
