Amy Eagan leaves Drury basketball to lead Division I Lindenwood
One of the most successful Divison II women's basketball coaches in the country is making her ascent.
Amy Eagan, who led national power Drury to a 87-9 record in three seasons, was named the head coach of new NCAA Division I member Lindenwood on Tuesday.
Eagan replaces Katie Falco, who posted a 2-24 overall mark with the St. Charles school this past season, its debut year in the Ohio Valley Conference. Eagan, who helped the Panthers reach the NCAA II title game in 2021, was recently named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
"I want to thank Drury University, the athletics department, my players, my staff, boosters and the Springfield community for all their support the last four years," said Eagan, who flourished in Division II Truman State before coming to Drury. "The memories made here will last a lifetime and I will forever be grateful! Drury will always hold a special place in my heart!
Eagan takes a career record of 275-151 to Lindenwood. In addition to head coaching stops at Drury and Truman State, Eagan was the head coach at Ashford (Iowa) from 2010-13, and at St. Ambrose (Iowa) from 2005-07.
"Coach Eagan is a proven winner as demonstrated throughout her career as a student-athlete, coach and mentor," Lindwood athletic director Jason Coomer said in a news release. We are thrilled that she will be bringing her exciting style of play to St. Charles as this will certainly be intriguing to players and fans alike."
Eagen, the fifth Drury in program history, is the third to leave the Springfield school for a NCAA Division I head coaching job.
Nyla Milleson, the Panthers' current athletic director, left Drury to lead to Missouri State in 2007. Molly Miller, who hired Eagan as an assistant in 2019, left Drury for Grand Canyon in 2020.
A national search for Drury's next head coach is underway, the school said.
Eagan's top assistant his past season, former Purdy and Drury standout Addie Miller, was named head coach at NCAA Division II Cedarville (Ohio) last week.
