Two-time The International (TI) champions Anathan "ana" Pham and Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen will be missing out on The International 11 (TI11), after T1 fell to Vici Gaming (VG) in the lower bracket quarterfinals of the TI11 Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) on Tuesday (11 October).

Following a solid performance in the LCQ Group Stage and a hard-fought victory over Natus Vincere in the upper bracket quarterfinals, T1 were sent down to the lower bracket after they got swept by Team Secret 2-0 in the upper bracket semifinals.

Meanwhile, VG also started the TI11 LCQ Playoffs, but lost their opening match to Virtus.pro.

The Chinese team then swept Wildcard Gaming 2-0 in the second round of the lower bracket to face T1 in the lower bracket quarterfinals.

T1 started the series strong by taking a 30-minute victory in game one. They looked to be in position to sweep the series in game two, but VG managed to mount an incredible comeback to tie up the series after a 56-minute slugfest.

In the do-or-die game three, VG ended T1's hopes of qualifying for TI11 in a 38-minute rout.

With their victory, VG survive to the last day of the LCQ on Wednesday (12 October), where they will play in the lower bracket semifinals against the winner of the other lower bracket quarterfinal match between Team Liquid and Xtreme Gaming.

Meanwhile, T1 fall well short of a spot in TI11 despite having two two-time TI champions on their roster.

T1 notably parted ways with Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte and Karl "Karl" Baldovino in August to make way for ana and Topson to come out of retirement and join the roster in an attempt to qualify for TI11.

The TI11 LCQ will take place from 8 to 12 October and will feature the 12 runners-up from the regional qualifiers fighting for the last two spots in the Group Stage. The LCQ will begin with a single round-robin Group Stage from 8 to 9 October followed by a double-elimination Playoffs from 10 to 12 October.

TI11 will be hosted in Singapore from 8 to 30 October and features a revamped format with the new LCQ and a longer schedule. For everything you need to know about TI11, check here.
