Anchorage's James Miller leads more than 30 Alaska runners at Boston Marathon

Apr. 18—Anchorage's James Miller led more than 30 Alaska runners who completed the Boston Marathon on Monday. Miller finished with a time of 2 hours, 49 minutes and 30 seconds and was the only Alaska runner to break the three-hour mark.

Miller, who ran the same race in 2:53:04 last year, has won the ultramarathon title multiple times at Anchorage RunFest.

Anchorage's Mariah Burroughs was the highest Alaska finisher in the women's division with a time of 3:15:52. Burroughs, a Wasilla High graduate, was a middle distance runner for the UAA track and cross country teams, and wrapped up her collegiate career five years ago.

Former UAA runner Marko Cheseto won the Para T62/T64 division with a time of 2:50:02.

Cheseto had his lower legs amputated in 2011 after suffering hypothermia and severe frostbite to his feet after being lost in the Anchorage woods.
