A truck reportedly hit and injured Anderson County Sheriff's Office reserve deputies Lucas and Nicole Shoffner in Campbell County on Aug. 1.

"We are reaching out to all of our prayer warriors," an official Facebook announcement by ACSO stated. "Nicole suffered injuries, but Lucas took the brunt of the vehicle. At this time, Lucas is fighting for his life."

The Sheriff's Office reported Lucas had "very serious head injuries" and was in the trauma intensive care unit at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville at the time of the post on Tuesday, Aug. 9. On Wednesday, Sheriff's Office spokesperson Tyler Mayes said the Shoffners' conditions had not changed.

A GoFundMe page is taking donations for the Shoffners as they are out of work and will be for "quite a while," the Facebook post stated.

"Please give if you can. Please pray for Lucas. He is an incredible young man who has devoted his entire career to serving his country and community. You don't find them much better than Lucas. Pray for healing. Pray for Nicole. Pray that she will continue to stay strong during this incredibly tough time," ACSO stated on Facebook.

The GoFundMe Page, reportedly started by Lucas' brother Aaron, gave additional details. It stated the two were trying to repair a "small dirt bike chain," when a pickup truck hit them. It state that Lucas has a "brain bleed, a fractured skull, multiple facial fractures and has a blood clot in his main artery in his neck."

"Currently they have intubated him and placed a central line in him as well as a 'bolt,' in his skull to help relive inner cranial pressure," the GoFundMe page stated. As of early afternoon Wednesday, more than $70,000 had been raised.

Nicole received "a small fracture in her hip and a lot of road rash."
