Andiamo Coffee and Tea is now open for hot and cold drinks and breakfast pastries downtown, next to its sibling, the new French-Italian restaurant Lupi and Iris.

It's in ground-floor retail space at the 7Seventy7 Building, the 35-story tower of high-end apartments at 777 N. Van Buren St. Chef Adam Siegel and Michael DeMichele own and operate the businesses.

The cafe's name has a caffeinated ring to it — it translates from Italian as "let's go!"

Andiamo is in its soft-opening phase. Hours might be adjusted later, but the cafe now is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Stone Creek coffee and Rishi tea are served, hot or iced, including a range of espresso drinks that can be made with dairy or almond, oat or coconut milk. Italian soda and lemonade also are on the menu.

The menu includes breakfast pastries from Matilda Bakehouse, including plain, chocolate, and ham-and-cheese croissants, sunshine buns (with orange), and fruit danishes. Pastries, including muffins and quick breads, range from $2.50 to $6.50.

Grab-and-go coolers will be stocked with sandwiches and salads, and a freezer will have items such as pizzas and ice cream, with building tenants in mind.

Pastries sold at Andiamo Coffee and Tea at Mason and Van Buren streets include ham-and-cheese croissants.
