Andor season 2 has become the latest production to be impacted by the SAG-AFTRA strike in the US.

The actors' trade union confirmed their first strike since 1980 last week, which has affected numerous TV and movie productions across the US.

The Star Wars series, which had been filming in the UK and was close to wrapping, has now paused production.

Cast members that are part of SAG-AFTRA have stopped work, though Deadline reports that production will continue for as long as it can with members that are part of British acting union Equity. The site also claims that Equity members could be sued for breach of contract if they walk off in solidarity with US colleagues.

Digital Spy has reached out to Disney for comment.

Speaking recently about the actors' strike alongside the Writers Guild of America one, Andor boss Tony Gilroy recently told Deadline: “I think SAG and the Writers Guild are trying to preserve our industry.

"In such a strange way, we’ve become the creators and the interpreters, the creative community are becoming the protectors of this industry, this huge industry that people love. And the caretakers on the other side, I think they’re being recklessly careless.”

Andor, which serves as an origin story for rebel Cassian Andor, debuted last year to great acclaim, with the second season set to serve as the final outing before heading into the events of movie Rogue One.

Speaking last month about the time jumps in season 2, Gilroy confirmed that there will be four skips (each covering the timespan of a year) as they are telling the story "without doing any of the awkward exposition".

Andor is streaming on Disney+.
