Star Wars TV spin-off The Mandalorian is currently airing its third season, introducing some unexpected cameos in the latest episode, but what about Andor?

The other live-action Star Wars series is currently working on its second season, and according to its showrunner Tony Gilroy, it should follow the pattern of season 1 and have a summer release date.

But temper your expectations, fans. The show is on track for August 2024, so there's still quite a while to go.

Appearing on stage at this year's Star Wars Celebration, which Digital Spy attended, Gilroy told fans: "We're gonna shoot through August. We are on the exact schedule we were on the previous time, so if past is precedent we will finish in August and then spend another year on the post-production, on the music, on the colour, on the visual effects, and getting it ready, and I suppose we'll come out the following August.

He added: "We are motoring ahead... we're very very busy. There are 1,400 people working on it."

It was reiterated at the event that season 2 of Andor will definitely be the final season of the show.

Gilroy explained that the right ending is something he has always had in mind, and he is thankful to have a clear vision of the show's end point towards.

"If you know your ending it really helps," he said about working on the upcoming season.

Actor Diego Luna previously stated that only doing two seasons of the show was great for him on a personal level as well, stating that knowing when the end was coming "really important for my mental health".
