Andor's Diego Luna has opened up about the show ending after season two.

The Star Wars spin-off series, rather than outstaying its welcome, will be completing its story arc in just two outings, which although disappointing for some, the star of the show is happy about it.

Luna, who plays Cassian Andor, revealed it ending after 24 episodes is "important for my mental health".

"This is the last season for Andor,” Luna told Variety. "It is just a two-season show, which is really important for my mental health. But knowing this is the end, I want to enjoy it and get the best out of this experience."

Cassian's story was always going to end with the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which the actor said was a "remarkable" one to tell.

"What this character does in Rogue One is quite remarkable, and what we are building shows what needs to happen in someone's life to be willing to sacrifice everything," he said.

"For me, this has always been a story where the people bringing change, the ones you can call heroes, are just regular people doing extraordinary things."

The second season will be a while off, with Luna himself previously stating: "You're gonna have to wait a little bit [for season 2] because each season is like four movies. It takes time.

"The only thing I can promise is that we'll do it with the same respect, rigour, intensity, and energy. We're not going to rush it. I mean, that's the beauty of this show. It's just two seasons, and we can concentrate and try to deliver something as good or even better."

Andor is streaming on Disney+.
