Andrea Bocelli Will Livestream a Special Easter Concert from the Duomo Cathedral
Right when we thought Easter was just going to be another day in self-isolation, this happened.
On Easter Sunday, Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli will hold a one-of-a-kind concert, titled Bocelli: Music for Hope, at the Duomo cathedral in Milan, Italy. The best part? The performance will be livestreamed on the musician’s official YouTube channel.
Bocelli will be accompanied by cathedral organist Emanuele Vianelli and no one else, which means they’ll play to an empty venue. Together, they will perform a variety of spiritual songs, including “Ave Maria” and “Sancta Maria.”
“On the day in which we celebrate the trust in a life that triumphs, I’m honored and happy to answer ‘Sì’ to the invitation of the City and the Duomo of Milan,” Bocelli said in a statement. “I believe in the strength of praying together; I believe in the Christian Easter, a universal symbol of rebirth that everyone—whether they are believers or not—truly needs right now.”
The opera singer went on to say that he hopes to unite music-lovers around the world, adding, “Thanks to music, streamed live, bringing together millions of clasped hands everywhere in the world, we will hug this wounded Earth’s pulsing heart, this wonderful international forge that is reason for Italian pride... It will be a joy to witness it, in the Duomo, during the Easter celebration which evokes the mystery of birth and rebirth.”
