Andrew Whitworth returns to Cincinnati for first time since leaving Bengals

Former NFL offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth tweeted Friday that he's back in Cincinnati for the first time since he left the Bengals for the Rams before the 2017 season, and he's excited to see his former team's family and fans.

The Bengals showed Whitworth on the big screen during Saturday's preseason finale at Paycor Stadium. He was in the broadcast booth for a Los Angeles TV station.

Whitworth's wife, Melissa, quote tweeted her husband, adding that she was jealous over his return to the Queen City, where she added that "the food scene … is LEGIT."

Andrew, who announced his retirement in March after 16 NFL seasons - including 11 with the Bengals, confirmed in June that he joined Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" coverage.

Former Bengals offensive lineman Willie Anderson announced in July that Whitworth will be at the Sept. 29 game against the Miami Dolphins at Paycor Stadium, when Anderson and Isaac Curtis are scheduled to be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor.

The Week 4 matchup on Amazon potentially will feature a showdown between the top two quarterbacks selected in the 2020 NFL Draft - the Bengals' Joe Burrow and the Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa.

In Whitworth's fifth and final season with the Rams, he won his first Super Bowl ring against the Bengals in February as the oldest starting left tackle in NFL history.

During his Walter Payton Man of the Year award acceptance speech at the "NFL Honors" show earlier this year, Whitworth told a memorable story about Detroit Lions linebacker and former Holy Cross High School standout Derrick Barnes.
