Every year in the NFL, teams look to upgrade and replace veteran players for younger, cheaper versions. This year will be no exception.

So who are those players for the Arizona Cardinals?

According to USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, two players were put “on notice” with the selection of receiver Rondale Moore in the second round of the draft.

They are receivers Andy Isabella and Christian Kirk.

Kirk was a second-rounder in 2018 and Isabella was a second-rounder in 2019 … neither has been exceptionally productive, particularly Isabella. Enter another Round 2 receiver, Rondale Moore, to add to the logjam behind veterans DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green. Seems like there could be an odd man out here – especially if the Cards and still-unsigned Larry Fitzgerald decide to reunite at some point.

Moore is what the Cardinals hoped what Isabella would be. The difference is Moore has already done it. Isabella was an outside receiver in college and hasn’t made an impact in the slot yet.

This will be the first season Kirk is used almost exclusively in the slot, which was considered his most natural position when he was drafted.

Kirk will be a free agent after the season, so it was important for the Cardinals to find a replacement.

Moore will be able to return kicks and punts and will likely be the team’s No. 4 receiver.

That would push Isabella out of the rotation. In fact, his spot on the roster could be in jeopardy.

But if Moore is dynamic, the Cardinals could simply let Kirk go in a year and the youngster could be their big-time receiver in the slot.

Isabella is especially put on notice. He might not make the team. Kirk needs to produce as well or he will see his playing time taken, too.
