Andy Murray beaten by Matteo Berrettini in epic Stuttgart Open final

Andy Murray was beaten by Matteo Berrettini in the final of the Stuttgart Open.

The Italian, leaning on his heavy serve, triumphed 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 after almost three hours in the testing conditions.

Murray hung in and admirably battled through two medical timeouts with significant work on his left hip by his physio.

But after saving one championship point, the three-time grand slam champion’s backhand fell short into the net, handing Berrettini victory.
