Angel: Changes for the Lansing State Journal are coming March 5

Reading the newspaper is a habit I started as a child, gravitating to the sports pages of the Chicago Tribune and our local paper in Valparaiso, Indiana: the Vidette Messenger. That daily ritual has followed me into my 50s, although I’ve expanded my interests far beyond the sports pages.

My reading regimen extends beyond the printed newspaper now, to websites for local and national news outlets — and even some apps and social media. I’ve developed new reading habits while still retaining old ones.

The Lansing State Journal is asking its print readers to embrace a new reading habit with a Saturday digital only version of the paper, starting on March 5. The LSJ will no longer deliver a print edition to homes and newsstands. Instead, you can find the e-edition (a digital replica of the paper) at LSJ.com.

Click on the e-edition tab in the black bar at the top of the page, or from the drop down menu where it says, "Hi, {your name}" if you are logged in. The e-edition has the same look as the printed LSJ, but obviously a different feel.

Starting Saturday, readers will also find bonus content in every e-edition, such as an extra 'Nation & World' section and an additional national sports section.

Subscribers also have access to e-editions for 200-plus Gannett sites — including USA TODAY, the Detroit Free Press and 15 other local newspapers here in Michigan. To access those papers, simply click on the "Universal" button to the far right of the pages once you see the e-edition.

As a subscriber, you can also share your subscription with a friend or family member. They will receive their own login and can access it as long as you remain a subscriber. Go to account.lsj.com and make sure you are logged in (in the top right corner, you should see a button labeled "Hi, {your name}” if you are already logged in ... if not, click on “Sign In”).

Next, select "Manage Account" from the drop down and then "Share digital subscription" from the menu on the left. Once you enter their name and email address, they will be sent a message with further instructions to set up their guest access.

Also on Saturday, the LSJ will launch a few changes to its puzzles and games. They will be centralized in the Life section, meaning that’s where you’ll now find Jumble and Sudoku. News of the Weird and Isaac Asimov’s Super Quiz will no longer publish. We’re also replacing our TV grids with a curated "What to Watch" module.

If you’re wondering where to find the answers to Friday’s puzzles, they will be in Saturday’s e-edition. And we’re also providing answers to all the daily puzzles at answers.usatoday.com.
