SINGAPORE — In what could be a historic moment for mixed martial arts (MMA) star Angela Lee, she is set to face her arch-rival Xiong Jingnan on 1 October at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in her bid to become the first ONE Championship female fighter to simultaneously hold two world title belts.

The duo will face off for the third time in their careers at ONE Fight Night 2: Xiong vs Lee III, with Xiong defending her ONE women's strawweight title against Lee, who holds the ONE women's atomweight title.

Lee, who made her MMA comeback in February after giving birth to daughter Ava Marie, said in an Instagram post on Monday (15 August), "The trilogy fight is happening... going up in weight, trying to capture that double champs status. Going to take the strawweight belt, Xiong Jingnan."

The 26-year-old had first attempted to become a two-weight champion in March 2019, but lost to Xiong via a technical knockout during the strawweight title bout in Tokyo.

In October that year, it was Xiong's turn to try and make history as she dropped down a weight division to challenge Lee for the atomweight title. However, Lee earned a dramatic submission win in the closing seconds of the match.

Featherweight kickboxing title on the line in co-main event

In the co-main event at the Indoor Stadium, reigning ONE featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon Singha Mawynn puts his belt on the line against top contender Chingiz Allazov.

Finally, in the promotion’s first submission grappling world title bout, multiple-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champions Mikey Musumeci and Cleber Sousa will battle for the inaugural ONE flyweight submission grappling world championship.

Tickets officially go on sale on Friday at 12pm Singapore time.
