Angelina Jolie is now a contributing editor for Time magazine, the publication's CEO and Editor-in-Chief, Edward Felsenthal, announced today. The Oscar winner and activist wasted no time; she solidified her new role with a piece about the refugee crisis published today, ahead of World Refugee Day on June 20.

Jolie's writing will reflect her extensive background in global humanitarian work, "focusing primarily on displacement, conflict and human rights," according to the magazine. As a Special Envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees with 18 years of experience with the UN Refugee Agency, Jolie has plenty of material to work with.

In her story published today, the actress underlines the importance of helping refugees in more ways than just sending international aid. "Under international law it is not an option to assist refugees, it is an obligation," she writes. "It is perfectly possible to ensure strong border control and fair, humane immigration policies while meeting our responsibility to help refugees."

She adds, "We need leadership and effective diplomacy. We need to focus on long-term peace based on justice, rights and accountability to enable refugees to return home."

Jolie will also be returning to the big screen soon. In October, she'll reprise her role as the iconic Sleeping Beauty villain Maleficent in Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil alongside Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer.

There are also rumors that she's in talks to become a Marvel superhero, an extremely lucrative role, for the upcoming film, The Eternals.
