Angelina Jolie returns in first 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' trailer

Five years after the first hit "Maleficent" movie, Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are set to return in the eagerly awaited sequel, "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," slated for October 18 release. Disney has now shared the first trailer for the film.

Maleficent and Princess Aurora are back in this latest movie trailer, with Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning joined by Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sam Riley, Harris Dickinson and Juno Temple.

"Maleficent 2" is set several years after the events in the first "Maleficent" movie, in which Disney's villainous fairy's heart was hardened, driving her to curse the baby Princess Aurora.

This second installment will continue to explore the complex relationship between the two enemies as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that live there.

Joachim Ronning is directing the sequel, taking over from Robert Stromberg, based on a story by Linda Woolverton. The movie is produced by Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson.

The movie is set to release October 18, 2019 in North America.
