Anheuser-Busch to keep Fort Collins biergarten and tour center closed

Nearly two years after the COVID-19 pandemic first shuttered Fort Collins tasting rooms, Anheuser-Busch still has no plans to rejoin the local fray, the brewing giant confirmed to the Coloradoan on Wednesday.

Fort Collins' Anheuser-Busch tour center and biergarten, which shuttered to the public in March 2020 and never reopened, will remain closed for the foreseeable future, a spokesperson for the company said.

"Anheuser-Busch has been a dedicated member of the Fort Collins community for over 30 years, and during that time we have been pleased to offer Fort Collins residents and visitors the opportunity to visit our brewery (and) Biergarten," the spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "... We will still be deeply involved in the Fort Collins community through our ongoing brewery operations and continue to welcome guests to A-B’s Flagship Brewery in St. Louis."

Anheuser-Busch had been offering brewery tours at its Fort Collins facility since it opened in 1989, according to Coloradoan archives. At the end of 2014, the brewery renovated its tour center to include a biergarten and restaurant. The brewery used the spaces to host events like Brewery Lights, an end-of-year holiday light display, and entertain visitors during regular visits by the Budweiser Clydesdales.

While the Clydesdales spend at least 10 months out of the year on the road, Fort Collins is still a home base for the horses' West Coast hitch, and its Clydesdales will continue to travel to Fort Collins, the Anheuser-Busch spokesperson said.

Like the tour center and biergarten, the brewery's Clydesdale stables will continue to be maintained as part of Anheuser-Busch's larger facility.

Brewery operations remain unchanged at the Fort Collins facility, with crews producing upward of 25 brands of Anheuser-Busch products, according to its website.
