Animal shelter hopes to find forever homes for all animals by New Year

LYNDHURST — Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center is hosting Home for the Howlidays this Saturday, Dec. 18 starting at 10 a.m. until all animals find homes, the animal shelter announced.

The animal shelter expects an exciting and very busy day and encourages people to plan to arrive early.

Here are a few things you can do to expedite the adoption process:

Submit your adoption application for pre-approval online. Applications can be found at svasc.net and at the URL links below. (Note: application approval does not hold an animal).

For folks submitting applications the day of, bring along vet documentation that your current animals are spayed/neutered and current on their rabies vaccines.

For folks submitting day of who are renters, bring along documentation that pets are allowed where you live or ensure that your landlord will be able to be reached.

Bring all family members with you to visit to ensure that your future pet is the perfect fit for everyone in the home.

If you are looking to adopt a dog and currently have dogs, bring your current dog(s) with you for a meet and greet at the animal shelter.

This a special pay-what-you-will adoption event sponsored by Petco Love has been created in the hopes that all of their animals will find forever homes by the New Year. The animal services center is unable to accept credit cards on weekends and are unable to make change. If you are planning to adopt, bring along cash or check for any adoption fees.
