BLACKWOOD, New Jersey (WJW) — The tag line for the fundraiser is “because some things shouldn’t breed.”

Yes, an animal shelter in New Jersey is giving people all over the country the opportunity to pay $50 to have them spay or neuter a cat in honor of an ex lover ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center explains that once you make the donation to “neuter your ex,” they’ll pick a feral cat to name after your former favorite person and then perform the procedure. Once on the mend, the felines will be sent back to their colony per the trap-neuter-return program.

“TNR is a vital component of feral cat population control as it breaks the breeding cycle and stops the birth of unwanted cats in our community,” Homeward Bound said in an Instagram post.

There are multiple ways to donate, including Venmo and a social media payment. Find out more more right here.
